It will be produced by its refinery in Porvoo, Finland, and be available in North West Europe.
Neste said the new fuel will meet ISO 8217:2017 and that further details of its specification and where it will be delivered would made available in September.
Neste’s executive vice president of oil products Marko Pekkola said: “Neste has always been in the forefront of developing cleaner and more sustainable solutions.
This is also the key driver within our marine fuels business. Neste Marine’s 0.5 meets the stricter legislative requirements for maritime sulphur emissions, enabling smooth operations.”
